Frequently Asked Questions
Peptide Therapy & Regenerative Medicine at Regenesis MD
We've compiled the questions patients ask most often — during initial consultations, over the phone, and online. If your question isn't answered here, call us at 919-322-2844.
Getting Started
What does the initial evaluation involve?▼
Your first visit is a comprehensive medical consultation (45-60 minutes) including a full health history review, discussion of your goals, and orders for lab work. Dr. Vaidya reviews your lab results personally before designing any treatment protocol. No treatment begins without this evaluation.
Do you use peptides from licensed US compounding pharmacies?▼
Yes. All peptide compounds at Regenesis MD are sourced exclusively from FDA-registered US compounding pharmacies. We do not use "research-grade" or overseas-sourced compounds. Certificates of Analysis are available upon request.
What are the costs for consultation and follow-ups?▼
We provide full pricing transparency during your consultation. Costs vary by treatment protocol and duration. Call 919-322-2844 for general pricing information. We believe you should never be surprised by a bill.
Who oversees the protocols?▼
Dr. Bhavna Vaidya, MD, personally reviews all patient lab work and designs every treatment protocol. She is board-certified in Family Practice and Anti-Aging Medicine with 20+ years of clinical experience. Your protocol is not delegated to an algorithm or a non-physician.
About Peptide Therapy
What exactly are peptides?▼
Peptides are short chains of amino acids — smaller than proteins but made from the same building blocks. Your body naturally produces thousands of peptides that regulate everything from immune function to tissue repair to hormone production. Therapeutic peptides are synthetic versions of these natural compounds, designed to target specific biological pathways.
Is peptide therapy FDA-approved?▼
Some individual peptides (like semaglutide for weight management) are FDA-approved for specific indications. Many therapeutic peptides used in regenerative medicine are prescribed off-label through compounding pharmacies — a legal and common practice in medicine. Dr. Vaidya will explain the regulatory status of any peptide she recommends.
Are peptide injections painful?▼
Most peptide injections use small subcutaneous needles (similar to insulin injections) and cause minimal discomfort. We train every patient on proper injection technique. Most patients describe it as a brief pinch.
How long does peptide therapy take to work?▼
Timeline varies by peptide and individual. Semaglutide (weight loss): appetite changes within 1-2 weeks, measurable weight loss by weeks 4-8. BPC-157 (healing): reduced pain/inflammation within 2-4 weeks. Sermorelin (anti-aging): improved sleep/energy within 4-6 weeks, body composition changes over 3-6 months. NAD+ (cellular energy): many patients notice cognitive improvements within days of IV infusion.
Can I combine multiple peptides?▼
Yes, and many protocols are specifically designed with complementary peptides. For example, BPC-157 and TB-500 are often combined for enhanced tissue repair. Dr. Vaidya designs combination protocols based on your lab work and goals. Interactions and contraindications are always evaluated.
What are the side effects?▼
Side effects vary by peptide and are generally mild. Common ones include injection site reactions (redness, mild swelling) that typically resolve within hours, semaglutide-related nausea during initial dosing (managed through gradual dose escalation), occasional headache or flushing with sermorelin, and warmth or flushing during NAD+ IV infusion. Serious side effects are rare with proper medical supervision. Dr. Vaidya discusses all potential side effects specific to your protocol before treatment begins.
Insurance, Payment & Logistics
Does insurance cover peptide therapy?▼
Most peptide therapies are not covered by insurance. However, some initial lab work may be billable to your provider. We'll clarify what's covered before you incur any charges. We offer payment plans for patients who need them.
How often do I need to come to the office?▼
After your initial consultation and lab work, most patients return for a protocol review at 6-8 weeks, then quarterly. Many follow-up appointments can be conducted via telehealth. IV therapy sessions (NAD+) require in-office visits.
Do you offer telehealth?▼
Yes. After your initial in-person consultation and lab work, many follow-up appointments can be conducted via telehealth. We currently serve patients throughout North Carolina.
Where is the clinic located?▼
Regenesis MD is located at 8020 Creedmoor Rd, Raleigh, NC 27613. We serve patients from across the Triangle — Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill, Wake Forest, Apex, Holly Springs, and beyond.
Comparing Options
How is Regenesis MD different from online peptide sellers?▼
Online peptide sellers typically provide compounds without medical consultation, lab work, or monitoring. They often source from unregulated suppliers and label products "for research use only." Regenesis MD is a licensed medical practice where every peptide is prescribed by a physician, sourced from FDA-registered pharmacies, and monitored through ongoing lab work.
Is peptide therapy the same as hormone replacement therapy?▼
They're different but often complementary. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) directly replaces hormones your body isn't producing adequately. Peptide therapy stimulates your body's own production and signaling systems. Dr. Vaidya often combines both approaches for comprehensive results.
Should I try peptide therapy or stem cell therapy?▼
These address different goals. Peptides are signaling molecules that optimize specific biological pathways. Stem cell therapy involves introducing regenerative cells to damaged tissues. Some patients benefit from both. Dr. Vaidya evaluates which approach (or combination) best matches your condition and goals.
